It's been a week of passive refusals here.

At the start of March, Martha got invited to a casting session for a Eucerin commercial. They were all very professional and we were anything but (we just did it on a lark). Some dude videotaped Martha while the casting lady took Polaroids. Two Polaroids were too bright so she gave them to us. The commercial would feature a teen-age girl as well as her as a baby. "If the actress they pick to play the older part has dark hair, Martha will make it to the final round," Ana Davila told us. She also said if we hadn't heard anything by the 16th we didn't make it.

Last week we went to a parent-run daycare around the corner to compete for a spot for Martha beginning in August. Three couples, one spot. They said if we didn't hear anything in a day or two someone else got it.

Our phone hasn't been ringing.
